Garena's Garena premier league (GPL) was launched in the month of May. It is a professional online gaming competition that lasts over six months, and comprises more than 100 games. The inaugural season of GPL features six teams of professionally-trained League of Legends players. Each team is comprised of the best players in their respective nations. GPL games are recorded and streamed online with commentary, and are made available to the public to watch on the GPL official website In January 2013, Garena released the 2nd Season of Garena Premier League, which would start on 4 January 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two new teams from Taiwan as well as Vietnam which brings the total number of teams to eight. They include AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok), Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) The Manila Eagles(Manila), Taipei Assassinsand Singapore Sentinels. It is the Garena E-Sports Stadium, an esports venue has been opened since November 2014 at the Neihu District of Taipei. The studio was constructed in order to host an event called the League of Legends Masters Series which is the most prestigious LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league that was a spin-off of GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League an all-women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. It's a monthly tournament that is held during the second quarter of every month. The goal is to promote participation among groups who are not represented and is open to individuals who self-identify as being female. Garena does not just organize tournaments but also offline gatherings and events that allow users to engage. Garena organizes events like the Garena carnival which occurs annually in Singapore and Malaysia.
